Discover Oshkosh – A River Runs Through It!
The Fox River flows from Lake Butte des Morts from the west, to mighty Lake Winnebago to the east. There are many scenic points of interest along the river banks, such as the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh campus.
A new paved River Walk follows both sides of the river, ideal for hiking and biking. One may also enjoy a relaxing boat cruise along the Fox River. Boats can stop and tie up at waterfront restaurants and local pubs along the river. Local favorites include: the Fox River Brewing Company; Becket’s; Ground Round Bar & Grill; the Dockside Tavern; Manila; and Greenes Pour House at the Granary. Just a short stroll from the riverfront, are more pubs and restaurants along Main Street, such as Ruby Owl, Bar 430, Gardenias and more.
Summertime is the best time to visit, when you can sample the locally brewed craft beers, “Old Fashion” cocktails, local fresh fish, such as walleye and perch, and of course, Wisconsin cheese!
